Meet The Final Five Artists
In October 2024, the William H. Gray III Memorial Foundation launched a national Call to Artists, inviting proposals for a permanent monument to honor the life and legacy. Out of more than 100 notable entries, five esteemed finalists have been chosen to compete for the opportunity to create a flagship installation in the Grand Hall of Philadelphia’s historic Gray/30th Street Station.
The finalists will present their concepts to guests and project stakeholders in Philadelphia in July 2025. Each artist's concept will then be posted online for public comment, with the final artist announced in September.
This Living Memorial will stand as a dynamic tribute to Congressman Gray’s remarkable legacy of leadership, public service, and dedication to educational equity. Aimed at inspiring and engaging the station’s over 100,000 daily visitors, the final installation is expected to be unveiled and dedicated in late 2026 or early 2027.
We invite you to learn more about the finalists listed below and to stay engaged with the Foundation’s work.
